Le Chemin’ (de la Liberté)

The inclusion of some long stretches of tarmac could have fooled some into thinking this year's route may be easier than previous. Those concerns were soon put to rest.

The 1000km route painstakingly pieced together by Race Director Camille McMillan tested and inspired riders in equal measure. With the forgotten paths, rugged tracks and high passes of the Pyrenees providing another unforgettable journey.

In the end, the first rider to reach the beach at La Franqui was Max Riese - but his choice of the alternative Night Route from the final checkpoint earned him a 2 hour penalty. Quentin Lille arrived with just a few minutes to spare within that 2 hour buffer - giving him the overall win.

Further Pyrenees regular Philippa Battye was first female to the finish - putting all of her experience in these mountains to good use.
