FURTHER Pyrénées 2024 approaches and the event creator Camille McMillan has set the stage for a new adventure, inspired by historic journeys taken through these mountains.

The original FURTHER saw riders navigate a nearly 500km loop from the Refuge du Rhule, high in the Ariège Pyrénées. This year, the event has doubled in distance at approximately 1000km, with a point-to-point route running west to east, traversing the length of the mountain range. The route includes some of the classic FURTHER sectors, Mines de Liat, Port de Salau and Port de Saleix, along with exploring new paths through the mountains. From the start point at the Col d'Ispeguy, on the border between France and Spain, to the finish line at La Franqui on the east coast.

“I have called this event the ‘FURTHER Le Chemin’ (de la Liberté) because I have become more and more fascinated with the routes that cross the borders of the Pyrenees, on which many people escaped persecution. It will have tarmac and hike-a-bike, everything in between. Like always, I will not say it is an MTB event, although I am sure most will ride MTB.’’ - Camille, Race Director.

Pertex is supporting the event again this year and we’ll be posting regular updates from between 24th – 31stAugust.
